Oct. 9th

As of today, I'm officially 18 lbs lighter, and my size 16's are starting to be a bit loose. I've discovered I lose a LOT more per day if I spend a bit of time exercising, so I'm trying to walk every day, at least a mile. Granted, it's not strictly necessary, but I like seeing bigger jumps on the scales.
I think the biggest trick for me to learn is: when they say don't eat after 7/8 pm, they mean it. Every time I've eaten after 8pm or so, I lose <0.5>
Even the social eating is a bit easier now, which is very nice. Still not starving, which is also very nice. Really bored with chicken though. Even with the tasty cookbook, I'm getting kind of bored. I added broccoli to my foods, no averse effects from that, which is nice. I'll take broccoli over cabbage any day!
I'm currently debating if I should do the 23 day version, or the 40 day version. I have TONS of weight to lose, but the 40 day version puts me on the VLCD over my birthday, and I know I'm damn well gonna want pizza and a slice of birthday cake on my birthday. If I did the 23 day version, I'll be 20 or so lbs lighter for the start of the Christmas season, which is nice, and I can restart as a New Year's Resolution and not spend the holiday's dreaming of food. I think it's too foody of a season to be narrowed down to chicken and beef. (Who wants Thanksgiving chicken?) I do think it's a good sign that I'm mentally turning toward "How will I maintain this when I'm done" over "can I get through today". One of the best things about being former military is boot camp training. "I can do ANYTHING for (x) weeks" is powerful. Is it hard sometimes? Absolutely. But any of us can do anything for 40 days.
